Assistant HES, CS PhD student, UNIGE|
Nikos Kostagiolas has been working as a PhD student in the Data Mining and Machine Learning team since September 2019, under the supervision of Alexandros Kalousis, focusing on Reinforcement Learning. Before, he completed his M.Sc. degree in Data Science at the Athens University of Economics and Business and his B.Sc. degree in Informatics and Telecommunications at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has also participated in several research projects at the "Athena" Center for Research and Innovation, the National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos and the University of Patras.
Nikos is interested in approaches that introduce sample efficiency and generalization capabilities to Reinforcement Learning algorithms. He is currently working towards developing locomotion agents based on human gait data using Reinforcement Learning / Inverse Reinforcement Learning techniques. His M.Sc. thesis on Meta-Learning, entitled "Learning optimization algorithms with neural networks", received the "EFG Eurobank" scholarship, awarded to the best M.Sc. thesis of the year.
